
We’re proud to celebrate five outstanding Scarlets entering the 2026 East High School Athletic Hall of Fame:
- John M. Van Liew ’02 — Early East football captain, transformative East coach (1908–1917), WWI Army athletic director, and successful college coach whose mentorship and innovation left a lasting statewide legacy.
- Jason Dalbey ’89 — Four-year baseball and basketball letterwinner; All-Conference and First-Team All-State in baseball; led East in steals and OF assists as the 1989 team reached the state sub-finals; four-year collegiate player at Central.
- DeMarco Turner Jr. ’06 — Multi-sport athlete (basketball, football, track); First-Team All-Conference in basketball and 2005 state qualifier; Central College graduate; now East’s head boys’ basketball coach and CEO of Infinite Hoops.
- Haley Larson ’12 — Record-setting girls’ soccer standout: program’s all-time leading scorer (71 goals, 27 assists), four-time First-Team All-Conference, 2012 Second Team All-State; UMSL alum; educator in Des Moines.
- Alyssa Thompson ’21 — Four-year varsity bowler, Second-Team All-State qualifier, 2020–21 team MVP; Simpson College criminal justice graduate; active in local bowling leagues and charity tournaments.
